blood and oil

first off, have you heard of Emmy the Great? she's incredible. check out her website here or her myspace here if you get a chance, or this video on youtube which i love. speaking of youtube, did you know that my cover of "all you need is love" has over 5000 views? four others now with over 3000 and the numbers are going up a lot faster in recent days. thanks for watching us on youtube!

secondly, the show (at blue bean espresso bar in morro bay) on saturday was great! i know it was kinda out of the way for anyone from here to make it, but the place is great and a lot of people showed up for the grand opening and they really seemd to like my set. it's great coffee shop and everyone was super nice. it was so cool to see cheryl (spelling?) and dough of iona blue again! haven't seen them since the farmhouse party in cayucos. i met molly (who runs the place) and her boyfriend (alex?) and laurie and laura and jason and they all had really kind words, overall it was great fun and kind of re-inspired me as far as playing live shows goes.

the response has been great so far to our new band name, we're all really glad you guys like it, and i'm really glad i stopped being stubborn and went with matt and dan's suggestion!

we've got some exciting shows coming up this month, the 26th i'm in santa maria with the great Ish Moreno, the 25th i'm playing an opening set for Buddy Mondlock in concert at shepherd's table, and the 19th i'm doing a guest set at the songwriter's showcase at the same. the 29th i'm really jazzed about though, as the whole band will be playing the featured set at the Clubhouse's showcase in slo! details on these and a lot more shows are up in our shows section, hope to see you there!

the other exciting news is that the "tentative" completion date for our cd that i mentioned earlier is all but official now. i even feel comfortable announcing it! we're hoping to complete recording and mixing by August 10th! we had some last minute changes to the lineup of songs and the artwork has yet to even begin, but i think we can do it, and this makes a september cd release plausible, which i'm extremely excited about!

thanks a lot for reading, and if you're interested in regular updates on stuff like this and recording updates and show reminders, sing up for our mailing list! the signup box is over there on the right side of the page by the flickr stream and the show dates!

thanks a lot and i hope to see you soon!

vera, chuck, and dave

hey everyone, guess what! i'm playing in morro bay this weekend!

the venue is a great little coffee shop called the Blue Bean Espresso Bar and they're celebrating their grand opening with a full day of live music! there's going to be bands and d.j.s there all day, and my set will be roughly two hours and start around twelve thirty. 2700 Main St. check out the shows section for details on that and all my other upcoming shows (including the full band at the end of the month at the clubhouse!).

in other news, why not check out my account on thesixtyone.com for a brand new song! it's called better and so far it's exclusive to thesixtyone. click here to listen if you'd rather not go to thesixtyone for some reason.

some of you may also have noticed that out music player, while more robust and attractive, does not offer as wide a selection. well the reason for this is that our new player and all the songs on it are hosted on reverbnation.com and we don't have all of our songs nor the latest versions of our songs uploaded there yet. the situation is being remedied as quickly as possible and in the meantime our downloads section has all the same songs on it that it had before. thanks for your patience!

and that's the news, thanks for reading, goodnight everybody!

each passing day

welcome! if you're reading this then you've probably figured out that we have a new band name, well we also have a brand new website to go along with it!

just so everyone knows, we are officially Each Passing Day. we have a new e-mail (eachpassingday@gmail.com), a new website which you're at right now (www.eachpassingday.com) and we've updated all of our other sites too like myspace (www.myspace.com/eachpassingday)!

so those of you who have our songs in your itunes, be sure to change the artist from "MDL" to "Each Passing Day" you know, to avoid confusion.

well, that was the big exciting news, i hope you like the new site and name and all that jazz, it's pretty exciting to me. there's also tons of new dates added to our shows section, and there should be even more on the way, so keep checking back! one in particular is coming up in just a week and a half, next (not this) saturday there's going to be a grand opening for a little coffee shop called the blue bean espresso bar and i've been asked to play there! i believe there will be other performers too and i'm not clear on details like the time yet, but you'll be the first to know!

well, that's all the real news at the moment. i really think you should check out the site though, the photos section has a new fancy slideshow and the music player is a brand new and infinitely more stable implementation. for the time being the downloads section is still up and running, but i want to warn you that it'll be coming down for the most part once our cd comes out. get 'em while you can!

thanks for reading everyone, that's all i've got. talk to you later!

some good news, and some bad news

first the good news. the incredible hulk is coming out tomorrow, and it should be ...well...incredible.

incredible-hulk-FL-03

second, i've been a busy little bee with the writing recently and i've got three new songs, and i'm re-working two old ones to make them suitable for your listening pleasure! that's pretty exciting to me, so keep checking back for more updates as i get those recorded and uploaded.

lastly, the band (you knew we were a band, right? it's not just me) is getting really close to deciding on a name. i'm trying not to get my hopes up, and i don't want to tell you what we're considering in case it doesn't work out, but if all goes well we could (finally) have an official band name by this weekend! this is exciting on so many levels, we don't have to say "oh, we don't have one..." when people ask what our name is, we can start designing shirts and album art and posters, there's no more stupid/confusing urls, everything will be unified! oh i'm so excited, i hope you are too.

ok, now for the bad news. for those of you who hadn't heard, my san jose show was canceled due to some unforseen circumstances at the venue (lost their entertainment license...). i was really looking forward to that, but a lot of other opportunities are starting to present themselves for out of town shows, and the san jose thing should happen soon anyway, just at a different venue. also, i've still got four more shows coming up in the near-to-distant future, check out the shows section for details!

well, now that the bad news is out of the way, how about some more incessant rambling/shameless self promotion? well, my cover of "all you need is love" on youtube now has over 4000 views, and our videos combined have over 50,000. check it out. that's pretty awesome.

i've uploaded three new songs on thesixtyone.com and each one has been featured on the front page within a day, and all three are my highest earning songs yet (as far as "points" go).

lastly, don't tell anyone but i'm working on a new website design. i'm not so great with that sort of thing, but i think i can do better than our current design, and what i've got so far doesn't look quite as awful. you'll obviously be the first to know if and when that goes live, so just keep checking and hope for the best.

that's about all i've got for now, thanks a lot for reading, and i hope to see you soon!
